Our client is looking for an exceptional Engineering Manager to help build engineering team and technology. The successful candidates will be equally comfortable with technical leadership, managing people, recruiting top talent, and hands-on development work


Description

* Inspire, lead, recruit, hire, train a team of 40+ software engineers, transforming them to be the best and the most agile development team
* Collaborate with Product and Project Management teams to design & deliver new product features that promote Customer-First approach
* Re-engineer development, test and delivery process of mission critical banking applications to delight customers
* Utilise modern software engineering & agile best practices while ensuring top quality and highest security of the code
* Contribute to architecture, instrumentation & performance decisions
* Able to get your hands dirty - write code and fix bugs when need be.
* Be accountable for maintaining and developing the bank's most critical application, used 24/7 by 11.000 internal users and millions of customers
* Join the Senior IT Management team to develop IT strategy and road map


Profile

General requirements

* 8+ years of working experience with at least 2+ years of experience managing development teams in a Scrum or Kanban environment
* Ability to coach software developers on development best practices
* Excellent communication skills and desire to communicate effectively
* Excellent understanding of SDLC and ability to manage the team through all phases of the development
* Ability to analyse and balance across various aspect of software development - timelines, quality, capacity, etc
* Understanding of the difference between 'DoingAgile' and 'Beingagile'

Technical skill requirements:

* Computer science or engineering degree from a top-tiered university
* A solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals
* Strong understanding of enterprise application development paradigms and practices
* 5+ years experience with a least one static language (e.g. Java, .Net) and at least one dynamic language (e.g. Ruby, Python, PHP)

Desired:

* MBA a plus
* Familiarity with one or more of the current UI frameworks: React, Angular JS, Ember.js, or Backbone.js
* Familiarity with iOS or Android application development
* Experience with containerisation and Micro services: Docker
* Degree in Computer Science, or other relevant technical discipline, and/or strong community contributions
